Susanne Fischer studied Sociology, Social Psychology and Social and Preventive Medicine at the University of Zurich (UZH). After graduation she worked for several years at the Institute of Social and Preventive Medicine (ISPMZ), conducting various research projects in the health field. At the ISPMZ she was particularly involved in a three-year multidisciplinary EU-project on Medical End-of-Life Decisions in the course of which she wrote her thesis. Up to the completion of her dissertation she worked as Bachelor and Master coordinator at the Institute of Sociology of the UZH. She then acted as Deputy Director of the Centre for Health Sciences at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). Beside her research activities she attended the Certificate of Advanced Studies in University Didactics at Zurich University of Teacher Education (PH Zurich) and worked in teaching in both the ZHAW, as well as the Institute of Sociology of the UZH. Since 2009, she has been working as a project manager at the Evaluation Office of the UZH. She completed an extra-occupational M.P.A. in Higher Education and Research Management at the German University of Administrative Sciences Speyer in 2015. Since August 2018 she has been the director of the Evaluation Office of the UZH.
